How do we call the sounds we make while speaking in English? Interjections, they are not real words but represent the sounds people make whwn talking to others.
Compare and contrast to the ones we make in Spanish.

This picture was posted by a 20-year-old girl named Becky from London on Tumblr. It has gone viral since and more than two years later keeps going strong across the Internet.

According to OxfordWords Blog The words of Shakespeare are still held nearly 400 hundred years after his death, to be some of the most poetic ever written and his influence on modern English is indisputable. Contributions such as Green- eyed monster (Othello) and My kingdom for a horse are fairly well known but did you know that he was the first person to use the adjectives neighbouring ( Henry IV) or misplaced (King Lear) ; or the adverbs obscenely (Love's Labour Lost) or Out of work (Henry V)?

How many of these phrases did you already know?

Can you find any in  the contemporary context? I have just googled Fight Fire with Fire and I have come across a song by Metallica. Go find some more present-day examples and share with your classmates.

Where did the word "wiki" come from?

Pretty interesting question, isn't it? I have to admit that I've known the answer for years but that's simply because I run 2 or 3 wikis myself. I have just come across this exceptional infographic that you can see below and thought I should share it here.

• Wiki is derived from proto-central-eastern-polynesian. “Witi” is hawaiian for ‘quick’.
• Honolulu International Airport uses the term wiki for their ‘quick quick’ shuttle between terminals. It is called the ‘wiki wiki shuttle’
• The first wiki project started in 1994 – wikiwikiweb, with the name derived from the airport shuttle.
