Many Americans today are calling for the removal of the Confederate flag on statehouse grounds in South Carolina's capital. Read this article and find out about this controversial issue. I'm copying an excerpt below:
"The flag has no meaning "regardless" of politics, or above politics; its heritage is not exempt from history. Anyone can interpret anything any way they want, but if they claim historical sanction for their interpretation, then they'd best be accurate. And in that sense, history is clear: There is no revolutionary cause associated with the flag, other than the right for Southern states to determine how best to subjugate black people and to perpetuate slavery."

Is the confederate flag a racist symbol?

April Fool's Pranks

April Fools' Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated by many people around the world on April 1st. It's a day where people revel in playing all kinds of tricks on friends, family, and peers. Another name for April Fools' Day is All Fools' Day.

No one really knows where or when the holiday began. It seems most likely that the holiday has slowly evolved into its present form over hundreds--maybe thousands, even--of years. Both the Romans and the Hindus had holidays around the vernal equinox. So we can guess that the origins probably began with festivities held at this time of year.

In ages past, people often considered this as the New Year, because it marked a change in seasons. With the disappearance of snow and cold weather, people could prepare the fields for crops. There was the birth of livestock and other animals, too. Nature came out of its months' long slumber.

But how did ancient festivals welcoming spring get connected with playing pranks?

Transcript: At Miz Mooz, we understand the importance of looking great without giving up the comfort our women on-the-go have come to love about our footwear. Introducing the Selfie Shoes. No matter where you go, you’ll always be camera-ready. Just insert your phone into the port at the front of either your right or left shoe, raise it to the perfect angle and click the internal button with a tap of your toe to take the photo. With the Selfie Shoes, you no longer have to use your arm, so now both hands are free to be in the photo.

In the next video, a really good prank that a trigonometry teacher pulled off.

Still, they all pale in comparison to the best prank ever recorded, in my view. Take a look at this previous post.

Will Coexistence be possible one day?

What do you think about the Palestinian and Israeli conflict? How do you feel about it? More importantly, how much do you know about the so called Never Ending Conflict?

Artist Nina Paley created "The Land Is Mine" to tell the story of the wars in the land called Israel/Palestine/Canaan/the Levant, since the cavemen until today, an accurate depiction of the horrible 6,000-year bloodshed in the region of Palestine, with dozens of tribes and nations fighting each other to claim ownership of that land.

Watch the video below and share your impressions with your classsmates.
