This is a 'choose-your-adventure' where you play the part of a child living in London in one of four historical periods: 1900-18; 1939-52; 1952-69; 1971-99. Dress up your avatar and travel through time to learn about the lives of children in the past.
Commissioned as part of the Renaissance London’s Exploring 20th Century London project, this site is aimed at 7-12 year olds and invites children to discover what it was like living as a child in 20th Century London, through featured objects, selected from the city’s museum collections. The website is designed as an ornate pop-up history book. By leafing through its pages, children encounter stories, games and quizzes, all brought to life with a good dose of humorous animation, provided by their own customised ghost avatar. After all – ghost stories are always the most compelling! Exploring 20th Century London
